Tonight VFW featured the New Generation designers. These are the designers that are up and coming and starting to make a name for themselves. Here are some highlights from some of tonight’s shows.
The first show I attended was Vancouver designer Caterine Sanchez. She designs both men’s and women’s wear. Her collection was small but innovative. She hand paints her prints and used vibrant greens that popped against white. The crowd pleaser was the men’s anorak jacket with a hood that converted in to a cape.
The designer of NRT Fashion from Calgary, took a more avant garde approach. The line consisted of short, full, circle skirts, tees & tanks with an “Escrime N.R.T.” logo, hotpants, fitted bodices, and a ton of embellishment.
Also from Calgary was Kristen Summersgill and her collection entitled Pout. Her pallette was mainly black and white with strong punches of colour like orange, red, and yellow prints. She also mixed in a few taupe pieces with pretty black detailing.
Vancouver designers Kam & Lee had a crowd pleasing show. Designers Kamila Gougain and Lacey Yorston had a stand out dress at the opening Gala night and the rest of the collection followed suit. Their bold embellishment and superb tailoring made this line stand out.
Sermin Sesoren of Vancouver had a collection that the designer says was about “following dreams and achieving what the heart desires”. It was a very unique collection. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. The final model was the designer herself.
