My Idea of Romance

ro·mance/roh-mans/

Noun: A feeling of excitement and mystery associated with love.

Romance is different to everyone.  For some it’s grand gestures of poems, jewelry, and hot air balloon rides.  For others, it’s the small stuff that counts.  I would have to say I would fall in to the latter category.  A girlfriend stopping by work with a cup of my fave tea, my husband bringing home a new wine for us to try, or one of my oldest friends booking a last minute flight to surprise me with a fun girls weekend, have been some of my most romantic moments.

The most romantic day of my life.

Like many of you, I can struggle with the idea of Valentine’s Day.  A day where single’s can feel left out and those who are attached feel the need to “romance” the crap out of each other.  Rather than giving up on the day all together, I use it as the perfect opportunity to be grateful for the relationships in my life.   I spend one night with my husband and one night with the girls….now dubbed Galentine’s Day. (Inspired by the TV show Parks and Rec)

To all the single ladies out there, don’t feel like Valentines Day isn’t for you.  I have spent many many Valentine’s Days as a single gal.  A date night with one of your gal pals is the best!  Some of my most romantic moments have been with my girls.  My girls have been my dates on New Years Eve, my late night gab session companions, my Birthday party planners, and have traveled with me to places like New York, France, and Thailand.

So whether you’re single, married, or maybe just newly dating someone, be sure to recognize the romance in your life, in all it’s forms.  What do you find romantic?

I agree that Galentine’s Day (haha oh, Parks and Rec) can be fun whether you’re single or in a relationship. And even though it’s a bit of a Hallmark holiday, I personally think it’s nice to remind each other to be romantic sometimes. Mostly because I really don’t mind getting flowers and treated to dinner 😉 Happy belated Valentine’s to you and Remo, hope you two had fun xo
