I am a Christmas movie nut.  I get as many in this time of year as possible.  Even the terribly cheesey and predictable made for TV ones. {I actually cried watching one the other day. Such a loser…I know.}  Of course I also have my favourites like Love Actually.  Last night with Madelyn in bed and my husband at hockey, I made myself a cup of peppermint tea and soaked in this holiday movie must.  I remember back to my single days of watching this movie and how I would wish for big love in my future.

When I was single at Christmas I would make wishes for my future self.  I wished for things that now seem so simple, but then felt huge.  I wished for a house.  Somewhere I could plant flowers, paint the walls whatever colour I wanted, and feel proud to own.  I wished for a husband.  A wanted a man who I would adore and who would do anything for me.  I wished for a family.  A little girl all my own to love and sing to and rock in my arms.

Now here I am years later, and all of those Christmas wishes have come true.  Whenever I have a moment and I get that “I need more”  attitude, I like to remind myself of the amazing things that have come true for me.  These wishes, although as basic as they may seem, are really what life is all about.  Comfort and Love.
