Summer Refresh

With the warm summer weather upon us, I’ve been doing some decor refreshes around the house.   A refresh doesn’t mean you have to go out and buy all new things.  Start with a piece to base your colour palette around, like a piece of art, a throw, or a pillow.  Next, take a little walk through your house and see what items might find new life if different room of your home.  Love fresh flowers?  Me too!  A single bloom from the garden can make a real impact.

This fabulous new throw pillow, by Vancouver label Joue,  is currently the main attraction in my bedroom.  This boutique design house offers up small batch home accessories blending art and textiles.   Obviously I love that they are both designed and made in Vancouver.  Appropriately named “Soleil”, this 100% silk pillow definitely brightens up the room.  Due to its hand painted nature, no single Soleil pillow is identical, so mine is completely unique to my home.  It’s like art for my bed!

Sometimes your bedroom is more than a place to sleep.  It can also be a little sanctuary to curl up with a book and a cup of tea.  {It’s like a mommy time out.}   These gold lip teacups are great for my morning lemon water or a cup of hot {or cold} tea.

I have a reversible duvet cover.  I use the check pattern in the Fall/Winter months and then flip to the stripe for the Spring/Summer seasons.   A blanket can be way too much warmth in the middle of summer.  I like to throw one of my many pashminas on my bed for those times when you just need a little something {light} to keep you cozy.   I’m thinking a post day-at-the-beach nap!  I’ve recently discovered Parachute.  A beautiful bedding and accessories line.  Their website is full of lovely things I want in my home.
