Sometimes I feel a bit silly being a 35 year old mom who is also a fashion blogger.  It’s easy to let insecurities creep in.  I’m not as young or thin as most of the other fashion bloggers.  Competing with these girls was never my goal when I started my blog, so why does my brain let me go there?  Well, we all know that Instagram can play a big role in the whole comparison game, so why not be proactive?  As rude as it may sound, I have had to unfollow some peeps who didn’t really bring anything positive to my life.  Feeds full of designer clothes, giant perfectly clean homes, moms who only share photoshoot moments and not real life mom moments, etc.  I have, however, found some yummy accounts to follow with women who inspire me.  They are moms, entrepreneurs, workout mavens, real, beautiful amazing women leading real lives.  Real life is so much more beautiful and inspiring than picture perfect.

One of these women I follow is (plus size…hate this term but it is what it is) model and body advocate, Ashley Graham.  She is a confidence rockstar! Today she launched her lingerie collection, with Canadian label Addition Elle, at New York Fashion Week.  It was awesome to see so many full figured models strutting their stuff down the runway this morning.  A real turning point and step in the right direction.  It was a great reminder that we all should be represented in the wonderful world of fashion.  So if my contribution is to inspire, even one, 30 something woman out there with curves, to have fun with fashion then maybe being a blogger isn’t so silly.

On a fun note, how cute are these new specs of mine?  I ordered then online and the whole process was easy peasy (just needed my prescription information).  To take out some of the guess work they have a try-on system to check if the shape of the frames suits your face or not.  I was a bit nervous ordering glasses online, but I love them!  I felt like these matte tortoise frames were perfect for Fall.  Thank you Firmoo

[…] Opt for a cool legging.  These faux leather leggings are much more refined than my daily go-to yoga style ones.  These ones were a great Winners find a few years ago.  They are actually even MADE IN CANADA!  (Check out my head to toe black look here.) […]
