Summer is almost here!!!! I have been receiving some DM’s asking about which ethical + sustainable swimwear brands I would recommend, so I thought I’d share 5 amazing brands that are sustainable, ethical, and just happen to all be Canadian and women owned.
Em & May has a collection inspired by funky prints, bright colours, and a whole lot of fun. This Montreal based brand offers their pieces made to order. They are sustainable + Eco-Conscious.
sizing up to 4XL
Londre Bodywear offers up the sexiest one piece I have ever owned. Cheeky is what they are known for and their bum ruching keeps your buns looking peachy perfect. Their compressive fabric made out of recycled plastic from water bottles, and hugs your curves in all the best ways. They embrace and welcome all ages, different shapes, and genders to rock their suits. (Yes, that’s me in the middle in that dreamy blue suit. This is the one I have in my own swimwear wardrobe.) And yes, they are based here in Vancouver.
size range: XS-5XL.
Nettles Tale is an incredible Vancouver company that truly embraces the every person. Not only do they have a fantastic size range, they promote self love and confidence like no other. I had the pleasure of attending an event of theirs about 6 or so years ago. I can honestly say this event was a pivotal moment and first real step to embracing my post baby body. They have so many cute styles and photograph their suits on lots of different bodies.
size range: XS-4X
Last year I discovered Selfish Swimwear. I haven’t shopped with them yet, as I am currently all set for swimwear, but I really love the look of their suits. Based out of Montreal, this Black Woman owned line offers up amazing suits with style in mind. Their suits are handmade with care in Montreal and they use mainly recycled fabrics. Sustainability is at the forefront of this brand. They actually guarantee their stitching for a year and even offer a free repair service after that first year of warrantee.
size range: S-XXL
Unika Swim is our final brand. They offer custom swimwear as well as pre-made pieces you can shop. They use ECONYLE, which is a 100% regenerated nylon yarn derived from pre and post-industrial waste. Their pieces are handmade in Canada and offer up a great size range.
size range: XS-4X
